Career Opportunities

From your first day as an RBT to senior clinical leadership — we show you exactly how to get there.

Career Pathways: RBT to BCBA to Leadership

We promote from within. No guessing about advancement.

Many of our Board Certified Behavior Analysts, senior BCBAs, and clinical directors started as Registered Behavior Technicians right here. We don’t just talk about career growth — we map it out, support it, and make it happen.

The pathway:

  • RBT (Registered Behavior Technician) → Entry-level direct therapy with children
  • Senior RBT → Lead sessions, mentor new RBTs, take on complex cases
  • BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst) → Design treatment plans, supervise RBTs, lead clinical programs
  • Senior BCBA → Oversee multiple programs, mentor BCBAs, contribute to clinical protocols
  • Clinical Director → Lead entire center operations, train clinical teams, represent organization

Competitive salaries at every level. Performance-based advancement. Leadership development programs.

Milestones BCBA Program: 50% Tuition Coverage

This isn’t a typo. We pay half your BCBA tuition.

The Milestones program removes the single biggest financial barrier to becoming a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. If you’re an RBT or BCBA candidate working toward certification, we’ll cover 50% of your coursework costs.

What you get:

  • 50% tuition coverage for BCBA coursework
  • Flexible work schedule that accommodates your classes
  • Dedicated BCBA mentor and clinical supervisor
  • Guaranteed BCBA position upon certification

This program exists because we believe exceptional clinicians are developed, not just hired.

What Makes Us Different as an Employer

Because working for a healthcare system is fundamentally different from working for an independent ABA provider.

Hospital-Grade Training & Clinical Development

Every clinician on our team completes hospital-grade onboarding that goes well beyond what most ABA providers require:

  • Ethics training and clinical supervision protocols
  • RWJBarnabas Health compliance and safety certification
  • Specialized autism training beyond BACB requirements
  • Shadowing with senior clinicians (minimum 80 hours for new RBTs)

Ongoing professional development:

  • Quarterly continuing education (12 CEUs minimum per year)
  • Monthly clinical case review with senior BCBAs
  • Annual competency assessments
  • Access to hospital-backed training resources and research

Mentorship That Actually Happens

We don’t just assign you a supervisor and hope for the best. Every RBT is paired with an experienced BCBA mentor. Every new BCBA works closely with a senior BCBA for their first year.

Mentorship includes:

  • Weekly check-ins and case consultation
  • Observation and feedback on clinical sessions
  • Support with challenging cases
  • Guidance on professional development and career planning

Many of our current clinical directors actively mentor BCBAs who aspire to leadership roles.

Institutional Stability & Resources

Working for a provider partnered with RWJBarnabas Health means:

  • Job security backed by a major healthcare system
  • Clinical resources beyond what independent providers can offer
  • Professional reputation — working for an institutionally-backed organization carries weight in the field
  • Career mobility — opportunities to move between roles and locations within our network

Work-Life Balance & Flexibility

We understand that burnout is real in autism care. We build schedules that work:

  • Flexible scheduling options (full-time, part-time, per diem)
  • Predictable hours (no constant last-minute schedule changes)
  • Paid time off that you’re actually encouraged to use
  • Coverage systems so you’re not the only person who can handle your caseload

We want you to build a sustainable career — not burn out in two years.
